Patient Information

The EWU Dental Hygiene clinic provides the full range of dental hygiene services allowed by the State of Washington.

New adult patients (age 18 and above) are provided a complete set of x-rays and a dental examination at their first appointment

Other services include:

  • periodontal therapy (deep scaling) with numbing
  • scaling and polishing
  • fluoride and desensitizing treatments
  • sealants
  • smoothing and polishing of existing fillings
  • placement of silver or tooth-colored fillings
  • whitening trays

The EWU Dental Hygiene Clinic clinicians do not do crowns, root canals, extractions, dentures or emergency treatment. If a service cannot be performed in our clinic, the supervising dentist recommends a referral. Please inform your regular dentist of any referrals.

Not all patients meet the teaching needs of our students nor does our clinic replace a private dental practice.

As a courtesy, we submit insurance claims to Medicaid and Delta Dental of Washington on the patient’s behalf. However, the patient is ultimately responsible for any fees incurred.

Fees for services are paid on the day the treatment is started. We accept cash (nothing larger than a $20 bill please), check, and VISA or MasterCard.

Contact us at 509.828.1300 to schedule an appointment.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out any paperwork, update your health history or make any changes in address and phone number.
  • The EWU Dental Hygiene Clinic is a learning facility. Treatment is completed slower than in a private dental office. Patients can expect to spend between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours in the clinic for their appointment(s). The initial cleaning appointment may take one to four visits.
  • The patient is responsible for providing all needed information and to advise the clinic when information has changed.
  • A parent or guardian is required to accompany all patients under the age of 18 for a minimum of 30 minutes at the beginning of the appointment to give written consent for treatment, and must be available by phone the remainder of the appointment.
  • As a courtesy, we ask all visitors to refrain from wearing fragrances when visiting the clinic.

A strict cancellation policy is adhered to, due to student’s clinical requirements.

We require at least 24-hour notice before the dental appointment.

Any patient who has 3 no shows or late cancels is dismissed from our clinic.

Thank you for understanding our policies.

Patients referred from another dentist must have current x-rays, account history, treatment plan, and periodontal chart emailed to: ewuxrays@ewu.edu.

Non digital x-rays can be sent to the EWU Dental Hygiene Clinic via USPS to:
